Website Accessability

A business website is considered part of a business’s “public accommodation” under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Small businesses are expected to make a good-faith effort to remove barriers and improve accessibility.

Our flexible accessibility packages make it simple to start enhancing usability, reducing risk, and aligning with modern standards at your own pace. Supporting our clients in the ever-changing world of the internet is our main goal.

Why Website Accessibility?

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified that all businesses open to the public, regardless of size, are expected to make their websites accessible to individuals with disabilities.

With web accessibility lawsuits rising 42% in 2023 and continuing upward in 2024, ensuring accessibility isn’t optional, it’s essential. Here are the key benefits of taking action now.

Legal Protection

Reduce the risk of lawsuits and penalties by aligning your site with accessibility guidelines, ensuring your business stays protected and compliant.

Risk Reduction

Avoid lost opportunities, complaints, or reputational damage by proactively addressing accessibility gaps before they become issues.

Better Usability

Accessible websites are easier for everyone to navigate, read, and interact with, leading to higher satisfaction and stronger customer retention.

Expanded Audience

Open your website to millions of people with disabilities, allowing more customers to access your products, services, and information without barriers.

Future-Readiness

Stay ahead of evolving regulations and technology changes with updates that keep your site adaptable and competitive for the long term.

Inclusive Brand Image

Show your commitment to equity and inclusion by making your digital presence welcoming to all, which strengthens trust and brand reputation.

Supporting Information & Guidelines

Here, you’ll find details about the service, details from the WCAG, our standards, and other important disclaimers.

We are providing an Accessibility Review & Enhancement Service designed to improve your website’s accessibility in alignment with WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines, which are the generally accepted standards for improving access for individuals with disabilities.

This service represents a good-faith effort, suggested by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), to reduce accessibility barriers and improve usability for all users, including those using assistive technologies. Since we are not lawyers or ADA Compliance Attorneys, we do not make your website AQA Compliant; we make your website accessible by following the guidelines set by the DOJ.

In 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified that all businesses open to the public, regardless of size, are expected to make their websites accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Because a business website is considered part of a business’s “public accommodation” under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), small businesses are expected to make a good-faith effort to remove barriers and improve accessibility, even though the DOJ recognizes that smaller organizations may not have the resources to achieve perfect compliance.

This service improves your website’s accessibility and aligns it more closely with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, but it does not guarantee full legal compliance or certification.

Full compliance may require further specialized testing, legal review, and ongoing maintenance beyond the scope of this service.

While these enhancements significantly reduce accessibility barriers and lower the risk of ADA-related complaints, no service can eliminate all potential legal risk.

Making a website accessible also does not = compliance with any laws. Unless your website is reviewed by an attorney or a judge, we can’t legally claim your website is legally compliant.

We simply ensure your website follows the current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and best practices for usability which helps reduce potential risks.

The general expectation (and what courts cite) is:
WCAG 2.1 Level AA

That means:
✔ Content is perceivable (alt text, captions, contrast)
✔ Operable (keyboard-friendly, focus indicators)
✔ Understandable (clear language, logical structure)
✔ Robust (compatible with assistive tech)
